Why choose Calpe as a destination to get to know Spanish coast?

If you are looking to head abroad for a summer holiday, you can feel spoiled for choice. With so many areas to choose from it can feel a bit of a minefield. One of the best places for a break away is Spain and there are so many reasons for this. If you are considering Spain then we recommend you head to Calpe. Calpe is situated in the heart of the Costa Blanca in Valencia, in the province of Alicante. It is the ideal destination to get to know the Spanish coast and here’s just why holidays in Calpe will tick all of your boxes.

It has something for everyone
Calpe used to be a small fishing village but is nowadays a much larger development with stunning sandy beaches and a rich history. If you are looking to come and get your European culture fix you can do so here, however, it will cater for each type of traveller. If you want to spend your days relaxing under the hot sun on a beautiful beach, dining in delicious restaurants and swimming in the sea you can do so here. For foodies there are many different bars and eateries, catering for couples and families alike.

If you’re after a beautifully clean beach then Calpe ticks all the boxes. Calpe is divided by a large rock and on each side is a beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear waters and high-quality sand ideal for sunbathing on or playing in. There are a host of facilities alongside the waterfront where you can enjoy food, drink and entertainment all throughout the day. The nearby town is also packed with shops so once you are done with a day spent on the beach you can head here for a wander, purchase souvenirs and just enjoy the atmosphere and speak with the many locals that work there. 

There are so many things to do

As well as the beach, Calpe also has a plethora of other things for you to do and enjoy on your break away. You could head out on a jet ski or go snorkelling in the sea if you are into water sports and want to get your adrenaline pumping. There are also a host of boat trips you can enjoy, including ones at sunset that can include dinner and seeing some of the best views on the island. You could hike Altea or Penon de Ifach which give you some of the most incredible high points to sit, relax and photograph the land below. It is also worth heading to Valencia for the day where you can see the old town, the modern museum of art and science and so much more.
