Texas: A Friendly State with Many Travel-Worthy Destinations

You might have a Texas visit on your bucket list. You can spend time in the various cities and enjoy the sights, sounds, food, and everything else that makes the Lone Star state so special. You might drive through the state or fly from city to city, depending on which method appeals.

San Antonio has many sights worth seeing, so let’s talk about it first. We’ll then move on to other popular Texas cities.

The San Antonio Food Stops You Should Make

You might visit San Antonio just for the food. Southerleigh Fine Foods and Brewery should be on your list since the locals feel it’s one of the city’s absolute best.

There, you can enjoy a fried chicken dinner with biscuits and Southern-style red-eye gravy. You might also go for the cracker-crusted red gulf fish.

You can hit Bliss as well. They have inspired American fare, including a chef’s tasting menu that gets rave reviews. The breads and artisanal cheeses pair well with local wines and craft beers.

Checking Out the Sights

You can check out the San Antonio River Walk next. You can visit the Alamo and get a historical tour. You might also take a ghost walk that features the Alamo and other supposedly haunted locations around the city.

You can see the San Antonio Missions Historical Park. You will also find several beer and brewery tours that let you see the city’s burgeoning craft beer industry in action. You will get samples, of course.

Dallas and Its Many Charms

Next, you should check out Dallas. If you spend time there during the autumn season, you can see the Dallas Cowboys play a home game. Their stadium’s splendor reveals how much this city loves football, and you will see fans sporting Cowboys gear all over the city on game day.

Of course, if you can’t afford a ticket, you can always watch the game at a local bar. Make sure you don’t show up wearing any Eagles or Giants gear, though, or you might get the stink eye from the locals.

You should visit the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. There, you will see many colorful plants, butterflies, and hummingbirds that dart from flower to flower almost faster than your eye can follow them.

You can spend time at the Dallas Museum of Art. It has hundreds of notable works from many eras, including enormous abstract pieces that you can discuss and analyze with anyone who came along on your journey.

Visit Austin Next

One Day in Austin Itinerary

Austin has become an artsy city with many festivals, street fairs, craft breweries, BBQ joints, museums, and other diverse attractions that command your attention. You might visit the Bullock Texas State History Museum and learn all about this city and state. You can check out the Barton Springs Municipal Pool next if you feel like splashing around during the hot afternoons.

You can meet up with some other individuals who love the water and float down the San Marcos and Guadalupe rivers in an innertube. You bring your own watercraft, and then everyone ventures lazily down the slow-moving river as a group. You can chat with some new friends while you pass under the shady trees that overlook the water.

Next, you might visit Wonderspaces. This facility is part museum and part theme park. You will find 28,000 square feet of space that house many interactive art exhibitions. You will discover many mirrors that capture the light and project your reflection thousands of times. It’s a mind-blowing sight.

What if You Get Hungry?

You might visit Austin, though, just like San Antonio. The locals rave about Hestia, a restaurant with an industrial theme. They have many wood-fired dishes that go very well with wine pairings.

You might go for Odd Duck instead. You can get the persimmon and apple salad if you have a smaller appetite. If you crave something more substantial, then the grilled lamb shank with squash and corn cake should appeal.

Perhaps the fried goat chorizo-stuffed quail gets top honors, though. The chef pairs it with braised greens and baba ghanoush.

As you move through Texas, you’ll understand the diversity and many influences that make it so unique. You can see unforgettable sights, make friends, and bring back some souvenirs that you can cherish and display in your home in the coming years. You might visit this magical state many times and never do the same activities twice.
