5 Reasons you should visit Mykonos next Summer

Next summer if things take a positive turn in relation to dealing with the virus, then we will be dealing with a very special occasion. Undoubtedly, it will be an unforgettable summer to come. After our quarantine and confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic, we all try to think optimistically and dream of the most relaxing summer vacation. Where? But of course on the island that has pretty much everything: Mykonos!

Contradictory, irresistibly charming and, in any case, unforgettable, Mykonos is an island with an international radiance that is constantly maintained on people’s minds. It is the place where you can satisfy all your travel needs and explore places that came straight out of a fairytale story.

From the atmospheric walks in the labyrinth of Chora and the relaxation on dreamy beaches to the ideal hotel for this year’s holidays, we have gathered the 5 top reasons that will convince you to put the island of Mykonos in your travel plans this particular summer.

1. Strolling through the most famous “Chora” of the Cyclades

The walk in the “labyrinth” of its whitewashed alleys is an experience that you will surely want to repeat again. From the famous Matogianni to the postcard Little Venice and the famous windmills overlooking the sea, the most famous country of the Cyclades is the “Instagrammer’s paradise”. Whether by mistake or not, you will indeed get lost in the countless labyrinthine alleys with its all-white houses and scattered churches. On your walk, you will stop to admire Panagia Paraportiani, the jewel of the island and one of the most majestic churches in the entire Aegean sea.

2. Its unique sunset

Little Venice is probably the most famous corner of Mykonos. This neighbourhood, with the picturesque houses and the colourful balconies that hang above the water, is ideal for taking countless photos and getting acquainted with the Mykonian atmosphere. It is also world-famous the place where you will enjoy the most beautiful sunset on the island.

3. Discover its dream beaches

One of the significant advantages of Mykonos is its numerous beaches. Here are some of the most exquisite in the Cyclades. Secular, sandy, organized, quiet and secluded. Wherever you go, you will swim in excellent, crystal clear waters. Well-organized and protected from the meltemia (seasonal wind) Ornos is the first of the southern beaches and one of the most beautiful on the island. Psarou, Platis Gialos, Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Elia, Kalo Livadi and Kalafatis are some of the best choices on this side of the island. In the north, Ftelia, Panormos and the isolated Agios Sostis stand out, reminiscent of Mykonos of older times.

4. The other side of Mykonos

Everyone knows that the nightlife of Mykonos is unparalleled. Under normal circumstances, in such days, in restaurants and bars, you would probably not find a table. This year, however, things have changed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and we will take completely different holidays with safety measures and the necessary distances if things don’t change drastically. So what would you say this upcoming summer to discover the calmer and more peaceful side of the island?

You can visit the picturesque village of Ano Mera with the monastery of Panagia Tourliani, to reach the Lighthouse of Armenistis in the area of Fanari and to see the collections of remarkable museums (Archaeological, Naval, Folklore). You can also take the boat early in the morning and set sail for the archaeological area of Delos and to lay your towel on “lonely” beaches such as Fragia, Tigani, Mersini and Merchia. If this doesn’t sound wonderful to you, then I don’t know what will.

5. The incredible accommodation options

Mykonos, as a tourist island, has to offer its visitors excellent accommodation options. Apart from its private hotels, there are fantastic choices of luxury villas that provide amenities and possibilities that you will definitely not experience anywhere else. Luxurious and aristocratic villas, with swimming pools that almost “touch” the sea, with impressive furniture and decoration are waiting to welcome you and host you in their spaces. Villas for rent that combine modern luxury with Cycladic architecture are available to offer you the vacation of your dreams, and now through Divine Property, you have the choice through a huge variety of luxury villas to choose the one that best suits you better. It has the way to make you feel warm hospitality, offering security and privacy on your summer vacation.

  1. Mykonos is so wonderful. The beaches and parties are unparalleled. I loved exploring Mykonos’s old town and sipping cocktails at sunset in Little Venice. It’s so magical. We rented an ATV to get around and it was the perfect little vehicle. I miss Mykonos!!
