RV Meal Planning – What You Need to Know?

So, how do you do meal planning when it comes to RV? Well, honestly, it is not as difficult as it might seem. You do need some planning and some discipline to achieve that, but once you are done with that, you will be in a much better state and you will be able to take care of all the things properly.

Let’s not waste time and have a look, shall we?

1. Planning Ahead of Time

Now, planning ahead is not something that everyone is interested in doing and at the same time, I can find you a lot of people who absolutely love the process. It is worth noting that there are a few reasons why it is important to plan ahead when you are going for an RV meal. It saves you money because you are cooking your meals and you will also know what you will be eating, giving you complete control of the menu.

It will also make your camping trip a lot easier because you will already be aware of what you need to bring with you. Allowing you to be at least relaxed about the catering aspect of the trip.

2. Batch Preparation is the Way to Go

If you are looking for a stress-free trip, be sure that you are planning a week ahead of the trip. This means that you get to prepare most of the ingredients in advance. Several of your recipes are going to need the same ingredients, and if you prepare them in advance and store them away, you will be in much less hassle and that is the way to go.

I do understand that everyone loves freshly prepared food but when you are talking about going on a camping trip, the idea of having convenient food is much, much more important than anything else and you cannot really overlook this aspect.

3. Food Storage is Just as Important as the Actual Cooking

The next tip that we are going to give you is that you have to understand how the food storage is going to work because in a lot of situations, food storage is just as important as actual cooking or making other preps when going on an RV trip.

Yes, yes, it does sound strange to some but what’s the point of doing so much food prep when you cannot even go ahead and store the food the right way.

This is where you need to get your hands on some really good quality, airtight Tupperware because only then you will be able to ensure that you have packed all the food the right way and there is nothing coming in the way, either.

I do understand that it takes time to arrange all these things but hey, we are here to guide you in the best possible way so you do not run into any issues that might otherwise prop up out of nowhere.

4. Don’t Over Complicate It

I am not trying to be mean to anyone but if you are going for RV meal planning just so you can take a trip to the wilderness, you will need to be as simple as possible. Anything otherwise is only going to complicate the situation even further and that is not what we want.

The key is to keep everything simple. You do not need to feed yourself sushi while going on the mountains. Sure, the idea sounds simple but the more you complicate your food choices, the more complicated the entire trip is going to be and that is exactly what we are trying to avoid.

5. Don’t be Afraid to Reuse Ingredients

Another tip that we are always giving to everyone is that whenever you are out on a trip; whether it is a camping trip or otherwise, you should never be too afraid to reuse the ingredients. Let’s take chicken for example. Chicken is one of the most versatile meats that you can find and if you are making something out of chicken on day one, and there is some more chicken that is left, you can reuse it the second day.

The point here is that we must carefully use and reuse all the resources we have because again, we really do not want to mess things up, do we?

6. Buy Everything in Advance

Moving further, one more tip that we are going to give you for RV meal planning is that you should always buy groceries that you are going to need for your RV trip beforehand. Why? That will give you a lot of time to prepare rather than staying and being confused about how to take things forward. I do understand that this can be a hassle for a lot of people but advance buying will only save you the time issues that will otherwise plague the entirety of your experience and we really don’t want to go through that.

7. Know the RV’s Kitchen

Let’s get inside the RV now. If you have just got your hands on a new RV, you have to familiarize yourself with it before you can tell yourself that yes, you can do something just as good. Make sure that you are able to use the kitchen the way it is intended, and you know how everything works.

Be sure that you know how to turn the stove on and off, and other similar aspects of it.

8. Packing All the Tools

One more thing that I am going to tell all of you is that it would always be advised that you are packing all the tools in advance so you do not get things wrong. Now, speaking of tools, I do mean to say that this involves all the kitchen items, boxes, plates, knives, utensils, and everything that you think would be necessary when you are going up the mountains.

Conclusion

For anyone who is looking to make their RV camping experience memorable, there are a lot of ways to achieve that and at the same time, a lot of ways one can mess up. The purpose of this guide here is to ensure that everything is being done the proper way and your RV camping trip is as smooth as possible.

Having the proper meal prep and timely is just a cherry on top that will make your life infinitely easier and your camping trip all the better. Simply put, never miss out on making the preparations in advance.
