5 Fun Ways to Get Moving This Summer

Summer is right around the corner, and with it comes the sweltering heat that makes you want to lie around all day long.

But a summer spent on the sofa is a summer wasted! This year, make a vow to get up and moving and spend more time in the great outdoors. If you like the sound of this but have no idea where to start, here are five ideas of fun, active plans you can stick into your calendar.

Grab your gear, call up a friend, and get moving!

Mountain Climbing

The very first item on this list is an adrenaline-boosting adventure. Mountain climbing is an amazing summer activity that will get your blood pumping, and your muscles moving and introduce you to some of the most breathtaking views you’ve ever experienced.

Building up the skill is also a great challenge to set yourself for the summer – watch yourself getting stronger and sturdier each time you head out.

Whether you want to try mountain climbing for the very first time or you’re already a seasoned climber, there’s a mountain out there waiting for you this summer.

Kayaking

Kayak

If the water is more your scene than the mountains, cool off by trying out kayaking this summer. With this sport, you’ll be able to pick between intense, winding rivers and a more serene flat paddle across crystal waters.

Truly, there’s something for everyone with this sport, and there’s no better way to cool down! Kayaking is an amazing group activity, so it’s the perfect way to call on a group of friends and head down to the river for a day of fun – not to mention the fact that you’ll really get your muscles pumping!

Trail Running

If you’re an experienced hiker, the next step is to launch into a trail run. The thrill of running combined with the serenity of nature is an experience unlike any other, and any fitness enthusiast needs to try this at least once.

Ditch the treadmill and instead try your hand (or feet) at rocky terrains, winding up hills, and the cool breeze on your skin. Not only is trail running a great cardio workout, but it will provide you with stunning views of awe-inspiring landscapes, and who knows what hidden gems you might find!

Biking

If you own a bike, then cycling will have to be on the summer agenda! Biking not only keeps you healthy and active but also allows you to cover more ground, unlocking hidden corners and experiencing the world from a new perspective.

Take your bike out beyond the streets and experience nature in a new, faster way.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding

Finally, we have another activity that combines tranquillity and the thrill of adventure. Stand-up paddleboarding offers the perfect blend of relaxation and exploration, paddling your way through lakes or even the ocean.

SUP is a great option for beach trips. You can challenge yourself in some choppy waters, practice yoga poses on your board, or simply float peacefully along, soaking up the sun and the ocean breeze.
