5 Fun Rainy Day Activities for Kids the Whole Family Will Enjoy

Depending on which city you live in, you may have more rain days than others.

One year, Portland, Oregon, had 164 rainy days a year, whereas Phoenix, Arizona, only had about 30 days.

Regardless of where you live, you are bound to run into a few rainy days, and you may be wondering how to entertain your kids.

Are you looking for a good way to spend a day indoors? Here are five fun and exciting rainy day activities for kids the entire family can enjoy.

1. Indoor Trampolines

If your kids have a lot of energy and you don’t want to keep them cooped up inside your house anymore, you may want to take them to an indoor trampoline park.

There, they will literally be able to bounce off the walls.

Different facilities have places where you can jump on trampolines, but you can also play basketball and other fun games.

You may have to sign a waiver to attend, but it will make your child’s afternoon.

2. Arcade

If your kids don’t have enough energy to bounce off the trampolines, they may still have fun playing at the arcade.

Bring some quarters (although most arcades have electronic cards now) and let them run around and play all kinds of different games.

The chance to play games and win prizes should be enough to entertain them when the weather outside isn’t the best.

3. Escape Room

An escape room is also a great idea to keep the kids entertained.

An escape room is where you are locked inside a room for a certain amount of time, and you have to play games and solve puzzles in order to figure out how to get out.

This will be a fun, challenging thing for you to try. It can also be a great bonding experience.

4. Bowling

Bowling is a classic that will never get old, and you can take your kids there and play as many games as you want.

You can rent some shoes, order some food, and just enjoy trying to knock down all ten pins.

If your kids aren’t old enough to lift the ball, there should be a device that will let them be able to push the ball down.

5. Cooking Together

Lastly, if you don’t feel like leaving the house, you could always try baking or cooking together.

This could be a fun experience to bond with them, and it could also help teach them how to make all kinds of different food.

You can also make it fun too. You can give them some small responsibilities so that they feel like they are contributing to it.

You can even let them choose what they want to make. If you really want to get creative, let them come up with a recipe or something to make.

  1. The great thing is that children love all types of weather so you can still go for walks with them. Especially the younger ones, like my nephew, enjoy jumping in puddles. But these are some great alternatives for additional things to do. You can’t spend all day outside after all.

  2. These are great ideas! Playing different games with everyone in the family is so much better than letting the kids play online games all day (most kids do nowadays as far as I know). Do you have any particular game suggestions for the escape room? Planning to set it up soon! ?
